Alex has over 20 years of experience working hands-on with California threatened and endangered species through both research and consulting. Mr. Brown has performed protocol surveys, site assessments, pre-activity surveys, and successfully employed agency-approved mitigation and monitoring measures for projects including transportation, renewable energy, oil field (well pads and pipelines), habitat restoration, and construction. Over the course of this experience, he has been responsible for implementing permit conditions from CDFW, USFWS, RWQCB, and mitigation measures for projects subject to CEQA and NEPA analysis. He has represented clients as Lead Biologist on projects and served as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies providing permit interpretation and compliance recommendations. For the past three years he has been primarily assigned to California High Speed Rail (CHSR) Construction Package 4 (CP4) where he currently serves as the Project Biologist.

Nicole is a Senior Biologist with over nine years of experience in environmental compliance and working with threatened and endangered species in the state of California. Areas of expertise include technical writing and permit implementation on large scale projects. From oil and gas development to the Cross Valley Loop Transmission Line Project, and most recently the California High Speed Rail Project, she has conducted environmental surveys and ensured project compliance by way of construction monitoring. As a graduate student, she conducted a genetic study on giant kangaroo rat (Dipodomys ingens) examining the population structure of six populations located within the southern San Joaquin Valley, California which resulted in the work being published in the American Midland Naturalist Journal in 2016.

Mario is a staff biologist with an extensive background in marine biology with emphasis in intertidal ecosystems and sustainable algaculture. Since graduation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC-San Diego, Mario has expanded his interests through working with amphibians, birds, invertebrates, mammals, and plants, with a focus on California-designated special status species. Currently, Mario works as a Designated Biologist on the California High-Speed Rail Project and is working towards a Master of Science in mammal ecology at CSU Bakersfield.
